PONGAL Celebration of Northern Province - 2020

Pongal Celebration of Northern Province was celebrated by Department of Cultural Affairs of Ministry of Education, Northern Province with the collaboration of Divisional Secretariat, Thenmaradchi at Varany Siddiveram Kannakai Amman Temple on 2020.01.18 at 9.00 am. Mr.L.Ilangovan, Secretary, Ministry of Education has headed the celebration.

Mrs.P.S.Charles, Honourable Governor of Northern Province decorated this occasion as Chief Guest, Mr.A.Paththinathan Chief Secretary of NP was the special Guest and Mrs.Thevanadhini, Divisional Secretary, Thenmaradchi was the Guest of Honour. Further, Mrs.Rubini Varalingam, Secretary to Assembly Secretariat, NP, Mrs.S.Mohanathan, Secretary of Local Government, NP and Mr.S.Sathyaseelan, Secretary to Hon.Governor, NP also were part of this celebration.

Pongal celebration in Varany Siddeveram Kannakai Amman Temple was held in great Mannar. Guests were welcomed with auspicious music and guided to Varany Cultural Centre. Mrs.Sujeeva Sivathas,Assistant Director of Cultural Affairs ,NP delivered the welcome address .Following that, traditional events and address of guests were took place. In this event, eleven kind of Pongal was prepared. Chairman of Predeshiya Sabha, Chavakachcheri, artists in that area, public and officials of Divisional Secretariat , Chavakachcheri participated in this event.
